The Funhouse, the Roxy, Club 1018, the Tunnel all early, substantial memories of NYC nightlife in the mind of Peak Hour Music founder Steve DeParr. For this is where the seed was planted for a desire to one day make dance floors light on fire from the driving rhythms that he himself would one day create.

Beginning his career as "the neighborhood DJ", by accompanying his sets with a simple keyboard and drum machine he learned to assimilate his visions into what worked the crowd. As he honed his skills, it didn't take long before he found himself behind a recording console striving to make his dream a reality. By 1990, Steve had landed a recording contract to release his first single "Let the Music Motivate" under the moniker Dat In a Hat with renowned producer Ray "Roc" Checo's record label Digital Dungeon.

Subsequent releases with club staples such as Nervous, Emotive, One Records and DJ Exclusive helped to garner him respect and notoriety worldwide. The NYC dance floor anthem "Disco Diva", produced under the moniker Peak Hour Rhythms, gained national acclaim for this up and coming producer, and in the summer of 1995, Steve unleashed three phenomenal remixes for Aphrohead's Top Ten Billboard smash, "In the Dark We Live (Thee Lite)". In the years following, many successful releases garnished Steve's' wall of fame, including the overseas banger "Hands In The Air", and a club remix of "Mona Lisas", featuring legendary horn player Branford Marsalis on Columbia Records.

Steve DeParr The upper crust of the industry also began to realize Steve's talents as Billboard Magazine's former Dance Editor, Larry Flick, gave Steve rave reviews with such accolades as "...(shows) groove stamina to stay for the long haul on top of the dance heap. His ear for breaks is infallible, and he clearly holds promise for an easy transition into songwriting circles."

Landing Director of Promotion positions at both Emotive Records and Smack Music served to fortify the deepening of his industry knowledge. All the while, Steve had never left the dance floor, blessing such venues as Limelight, Tilt, Copacabana, Nell's, WNYU 89.1FM, Supper Club and Sound Factory Bar. After ending a light jaunt as a member of the infamous Smack Music Production Team in 1998, Steve felt the need to take his life in another direction, and has now returned to burn up the worlds dance floors with a vengeance, and this vengeance has a name—Peak Hour Music.
