     It all started with Lego blocks: those unassuming but artfully designed plastic toy bricks, variously colored and made for building dreams. While other children were pining for stiff TV and movie-themed spaceships and action figures, I was constructing my own universe, one brick at a time.

     Pouring the hundreds of pieces in front of me, I would plan and build a new creation. I would marvel at its small touches of brilliance, making sure to drag every member of my family into my room to view it, as well. Then, on an unprovoked whim, I would tear my masterpiece down in a few economical swipes and reassemble the pieces into some new fantasy.
